Most parents only want the best for their children.  As a parent, sometimes it can be hard to know what is the best for your child.  That’s why the staff at First Years Community Preschool believes in obtaining the most up-to-date training and cutting edge learning opportunities in early childhood development and applying that in a Christian setting!

Our staff believes that each and every child is a unique and special blessing from God and we believe that each child develops at his/her own unique pace. We also believe that children learn so much in the early years, and that’s why we are proud to partner with parents in instilling Christian values at a young age.  Our curriculum is uniquely designed to help each child in our program develop from the inside out and at their own rate in all the major areas of child development: social, emotional, physical, cognitive, as well as spiritual.

That’s also why the staff at First Years strives to create an atmosphere where children are the center and the heart of our program.  The children in the class help to guide our lessons, learning and exploring the real world God created, learning about subject matter that is of their inner interest.  This also assists in creating a child who is learning to be an individual, creative, expressive, and a child with a positive sense of self!  Our children learn that it is great to be different, to be who God created them to be, UNIQUE!  It has been proven over and over again, by many educators and experts that children learn best through play.  All children are born ready to learn.  Children are learning academic skills to ready them for kindergarten everyday through many experiences at home and school!

At First Years Community Preschool, we feel this kind of “learning through play” in a Christian environment is BEST!  Children are continually learning all around them, as the staff at First Years Community Preschool develop a relationship with each child allowing the learning to begin!  Hands on, real-life experiences prepare our children for a bright & successful future, and establish a joy for learning that will last a lifetime!  Our staff is trained in the State of Ohio’s Early Learning Content Standards and these standards are taught directly through play.  Our staff knows the art of teaching through play!  Our curriculum also introduces children to our Lord, and His word, the holy Bible, through weekly Bible stories, memorizing scripture verses and daily prayer.  The teachers at First Years Community Preschool are all trained and certified to work with young children by either holding a college degree in early childhood or related field or by obtaining a Child Development Associate Credential, and are also very friendly, kind and enthusiastic and have a natural passion and calling in working with children. They are also members of First Christian Church and are certified and trained in First Aid, CPR, Child Abuse & Neglect as well as Communicable Disease and continue with on-going child development training throughout the school year.

The students enrolled at First Years also enjoy the benefit of playing in our newly designed “PlayLand” indoor play gym! We also offer two way observation mirrors in each class which enables parents to see at anytime how their child is playing and adjusting, as well as the interactions between teacher and child.
